The Jordaan district is certainly one of the most beautiful districts of Amsterdam, located on the canal belt in the center. With its beautiful architecture of typical houses, canals and alleys, this lovely residential area has a unique charm. Many cafes and restaurants, small shops and wonderful markets can be discovered here.
On this walk through the "Jordaan" you go on the "Gevelsteen" (Giebelstein) route. The gable stones are the "ancestors" of the house numbers and street signs, and much more: Residents and their houses were found by attaching a gable stone to the house, which was provided with an artistic representation of what its inhabitants stood for: e.g. Trades, beliefs, traditions and family history.
The gable stones are used to create a colorful, informative and very individual picture book on the history (s) of the Jordaan district and Amsterdam. Experience the atmosphere of the district with heart and soul! The tour lasts two hours, you will walk around 3.5 kilometers.
