Alberobello

Rising like a dense crop of mushrooms over the hillside, Alberobello’s famous trulli houses make it one of Puglia’s most distinctive towns. The unique conical roofs give this UNESCO World Heritage Site a storybook quality that captures the imagination of anyone who visits. The town is divided into two main quarters, Rione Monti and Aia Piccola. Rione Monti, the busier of the two, is packed with trulli which are home to boutiques and gelaterias, while Aia Piccola remains largely residential and offers a more authentic feel. From every corner, there are photogenic details – carved symbols on rooftops, flower-festooned balconies, and glimpses of olive groves stretching beyond town.

1. Explore the trulli districts
Clusters of magical trulli are Alberobello’s star attraction, and the best way to appreciate them is on foot.
