Georgia is the motherland of wine. In all of its territory, you will find wineries. The number of wineries in the East region of the country Kakheti, where they still keep the ancient traditions of winemaking is more than huge. Georgian’s ancient winemaking method already has been granted intangible cultural heritage status by UNESCO. Your wine tour to the East of Georgia is a unique opportunity to participate in the harvest of grapes and winemaking. During this tour you will visit the traditional wine region Kakheti. Also, if you are looking for natural products, Matsoni House is the right place for you. In this amazing culinary trip you will taste the ancient tradition of Georgian cuisine.

In the morning, you will set off to the very East of Georgia to the lovely city of Sighnaghi. The most romantic city of Georgia is famous for its old Georgian architectural style, the amazing views on Alazani valley and also the longest castle wall after Great Chinese wall. Having a stroll along narrow streets of the city, you will visit the winery “Pheasant Tears”. Here they will offer you the best traditional Georgian organic wines. After that you will go down to Alazani valley and reach the wine village Velistsikhe, visit 300 year old wine cellar Numisi. You can have lunch in Velistsikhe (your guide will advise you for best places). Continue the tour visiting the unique winery of Khareba, a wine tunnel in the rock. Here you can see the difference between European style wine making and traditional Georgian wine making and taste the best wines produced by Khareba Winey. After that you will visit Alaverdi Monastery and Matsoni House. The monastery was founded by the Assyrian monk Joseph Alaverdeli in the 6th century. Matsoni is a type of yogurt, pure Georgian traditional one. You will taste different kinds of that yogurt, which will surprise you with their different and marvelous taste. In the evening, you will return to Tbilisi.
