Relive the stories of Inspector Montalbano, touring the places where the fiction inspired by Camilleri's books has been filmed.
The places described in the books and those seen in the series do not always coincide. As a matter of fact, the area of Agrigento was considered too scenographically poor and therefore the series was filmed in the province of Ragusa, where Baroque architecture, dense vegetation and typical dry stone walls coexist.
Begin your tour from the wonderful Ragusa Ibla. The places filmed in the fiction are the fascinating Ibleo garden and Corso 25 Aprile, where the Inspector's favorite restaurant, the Vigata police station (in Piazza Pola) and the Vigata square (Piazza Duomo) are located. There you will be fascinated by the wonderful Cathedral of San Giorgio.
In a wide field full of carobs and olive trees, you will see the Donnafugata Castle; from its terrace, you will appreciate a breathtaking view and, while walking around the park, the different scenes of fiction will resurface in your mind. Reach the small fishing village of Punta Secca. Marinella, is in fact nothing but the beautiful village overlooking the Mediterranean, a district of Santa Croce Camerina. In that area, you can admire the characteristic 37-meter-hight lighthouse of Bourbon origin.
The last stop of the Montalbano tour is Scicli. Here you can admire the Town Hall building (which was the setting of the Questore di Montelusa’s room) and Palazzo Iacono, where the scenes outside the Montelusa Police headquarters are filmed.
