The inside story
The Loire Valley, a Unesco World Heritage Site, is located just a short ride from Paris and is known for its magnificent feudal castles, its pittoresque villages, sophisticated cities and outstanding wines. There are over 300 castles in the Valley ranging from fortified castles of the 10th century to beautiful residences constructed during the 15th and 16th century.
Some of the more famous Château's (Castles) in the Loire Valley include: the Château de Chambord which happens to be the biggest castle that contains distinctive French Renaissance architecture, Château d'Amboise which was home to King Charles VIII and Francis I, and Château d'Ussé which portrays the image of a fairy tale castle.
