Why you’ll love this…
  • It's a running festival set in the mythical birthplace of Aphrodite
  • You'll get a medal to remember your achievement
  • The event attracts runners from across the globe
  • The experience combines sport and the beautiful Mediterranean scenery
What to expect

Run through Paphos, the birthplace of Aphrodite, where every kilometre of the route is shaped by ancient mythology and Mediterranean coastline. Held in early Spring since 1999, this is one of the most atmospheric running destinations in Europe.

Choose from a Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km or 5km. Every course is professionally measured and chip-timed, with marshals and aid stations along the way.

Whatever distance you take on, you'll cross the finish line with a fantastic medal designed especially for your race, and the satisfaction of having run somewhere truly special. Age-group trophies go to the top three men and women in categories up to 60+ (in Marathon and Half Marathon).

The field draws thousands of runners from more than 65 countries — Cyprus, the UK, Germany, Poland, Hungary, France and beyond — making it as much a multicultural celebration as a competition. The route passes the harbour and Paphos' UNESCO-listed archaeological sites, with mild February temperatures providing ideal racing conditions.

The atmosphere carries long after the finish, with a strong community of runners who return year after year. Winter sun, a great run, and plenty of fun — the perfect excuse for a late February escape.

At the entrance, there's a cosy bistro serving up homemade pastries and sweet bites, paired with Cypriot, Turkish or Greek coffee. Half-day Troodos Mountains village tour with art museum visit
Excursions & day trips

Half-day Troodos Mountains village tour with art museum visit

Leave the lure of Paphos' beaches behind as you head west into the Troodos Mountains to understand the art and soul of this region of Cyprus. First up is a visit to the small, olive tree-lined village of Platanisteia. The place's claim to fame is the 20th-century artist Hambis Tsangaris, who lived and worked here in the 80s. You'll tour the printmaking museum that he established, see his work and learn about his inspirations, from the Cypriot landscape to folk stories and war. From here, you'll begin climbing into the foothills of the Troodos Mountains, making your next stop at the little village of Arsos. It's set among the many vineyards of this wine-making centre, giving it a rustic feel that gets stronger as you see the terracotta rooftops and brightly painted shutters of the houses here. Pull up a chair and relax for a morning coffee at one of the local cafes. Don't be surprised to find a few of the local gents playing tavli, or backgammon, at the next table. Finally, you'll take scenic mountain tracks to reach a dense forest. Hiding among the pines is the Medieval Tzelefos Bridge, a Venetian stone bridge over the Diarizos River. It's a great place to grab a selfie and then take a wander in the woods, where you can breathe in the wild herbs that grow along the river before returning to Paphos.

Lefkara and Nicosia guided walking tour
Excursions & day trips

Lefkara and Nicosia guided walking tour

Looking to add an extra dose of culture to your holiday to Cyprus? This well-rounded guided tour is just what you need. After being picked up at your accommodation, you'll head to your first stop, the village of Lefkara. This picturesque little spot is known across the island for its silver and lace handicrafts. You'll have plenty of opportunities to shop for some yourself as you follow your guide around some of the village's cobbled lanes. From here, you'll start the drive to Nicosia, where you'll kick off your tour at Laiki Geitonia. This part of the city is completely pedestrianised and is nestled inside 16th-century Venetian walls. Most of the houses here have been restored from the 18th century, so be sure to have your camera ready – the stonework on show is something else. Finally, you'll follow your guide through the checkpoint and into the northern part of the city. There's loads of postcard-worthy landmarks on display here, like the Cathedral of Saint Sophia, the most important religious building in Nicosia. It's over 700 years old and, although it was built as a cathedral, it's now used as a mosque.
