Novodevichy Convent, one of the most beautiful in all of Moscow, was founded in 1524. Behind the walls of the monastery hid extraordinary women of noble and wealthy descent. The property of the these persons passed to the monastery, which made it incredibly rich and influential.
The ensemble of the Novodevichy Convent is a masterpiece of Russian architecture in the style of Moscow baroque, which has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2004.
