What to expect

Take the opportunity to explore the National Gallery on a guided tour. Discover the history of the collection and the stories behind the pieces during the tour, and continue your exploration by yourself afterward.

Listen to the story of European art as you admire the various masterpieces the National Gallery holds. The Gallery holds some of the greatest paintings in the world. Admire the more than 2.600 paintings from Medieval, to Renaissance, Impressionists up to the modern days. Your Blue Badge Guide will lead you around the Gallery for approximately one hour. Before and after the tour, you are welcome to explore at your own leisure.

Meeting point:

Head through the Getty entrance (groups entrance) and go through the security barriers. You will then head inside Annenberg Court and the tour will depart close to the information desk on the right-hand side. Do not head into the main entrance of the gallery, this is for public and not booked tours. The meeting point for this tour up to 9 May 2025 is the Getty Entrance. Walk through the Getty entrance, up the stairs and pass through the security barriers, the tour will start by the Information Desk on the right. The meeting point from 10 May 2025 is at Sainsbury Wing, the National Gallery’s new main entrance located on Trafalgar Square (WC2N 5DN). Customers should make their way up the stairs to Level 2. The meeting point will be located on level 2, across from the audio desk, where they will meet their guide at the designated tour meeting point marked with a Meeting Point tour sign. The guide will be wearing a National Gallery Official Tour Guide yellow badge for easy identification.

What to remember

The guided tour has fixed starting times. You are free to explore the museum at your own leisure before and after the tour during the opening times
