Santa Croce is situated on the Piazza di Santa Croce, where the famous soccer game in medieval costumes, the Calcio Storico Fiorentino, takes place here every year in June.

It is the main Franciscan church in Florence and a minor basilica of the Roman Catholic Church and it's considered to be one of the most important, interesting and beautiful churches in Italy.

Here you will find frescos by Giotto, a chapel designed by Brunelleschi, works by Donatello and a monument dedicated to Dante Alighieri, author of the Divine Comedy.
