Bulgaria's buzz will infect you from the go during this trip to inland hideaways. Expect to visit farms, taste local foods and drinks, have lunch in a historic restaurant and taste local wines at a winery.
We'll drive inland to the village of Kosharitsa to visit a bee farm. You'll taste the pure natural honey as well as the mead and sweet honey brandy produced here. Back on the road, head to the highland hamlet of Kozichino. See a wool-carding machine at work and Bulgarian yoghurt made.
Drop by a distillery to taste some brandy and to witness a performance of folkloric songs and dances before breaking for lunch at Kladeneca restaurant, where there is an intriguing ethnographic exhibition. There'll also be a ‘best banitsa' pastry contest so practice your baking skills. Then, in the afternoon, you'll visit a winery in Medovo for wine tastings followed by some free time in the town.
