Get ready to discover the history, architecture and people that have made Trieste great over the centuries.
The tour starts from the Molo Audace and then continues to the top of the hill of San Giusto with stops at the Romanesque church of San Silvestro and the baroque church of Santa Maria Maggiore. You will pass through the only gate of the ancient Roman city walls, the Arco di Riccardo (Arch of Richard), and you’ll continue on until you get to the highest point of the hill. From here you can admire a fantastic view of the sea and the Karst region (Carso). You will also see the Castle of San Giusto and the homonymous cathedral, where you can find the remains of a Roman basilica and the Trieste Lapidary Garden.
The tour continues towards the Roman theatre and then reaches the Grand Canal, which houses the church of Sant'Antonio Taumaturgo and the splendid Serbian orthodox church of San Spiridione. The tour will end with a visit to the statue of James Joyce and Piazza della Borsa, overlooked by a palace, the fountain of Neptune and a very original sundial.
