The inside story
The Palais Garnier is probably the most famous opera house in the world, a symbol of Paris. Built by Charles Garnier, a young and unknown architect, who became famous after his project was chosen among hundreds of others. He created one of the most beautiful monuments in Paris, responding to the demand of Napoleon III who wanted to convert Paris into a unique and modern place.
This masterpiece became the house of the most prestigious Ballets in Paris. The best dancers perfom all year long on its stage. The Museum of the Opera Garnier welcomes the works of opera and ballet, including the famous paintings of Degas dancers, and also remarkable stage set models.
