Visit the historic heart of Genoa with a local guide: Piazza De Ferrari, Palazzo Ducale, Carlo Felice Opera House, the House of Christopher Columbus (outside), Porta Soprana, and the beautiful Cathedral of San Lorenzo (internal visit according to service times).
Stroll along Strada Nuova, today's Via Garibaldi (UNESCO) with some of the most beautiful Renaissance residences built by rich merchants and bankers in the 16th century. Crossing the "caruggi", charming alleys in the historic center, you will arrive in Piazza Banchi, once an ancient grain market. You'll then reach the area of the Porto Antico, the most touristic destination of the city, where you'll find Palazzo San Giorgio - one of the oldest banks in the world and today the seat of the Port Authority, the famous Aquarium, the Bigo panoramic lift and the Galata - Sea Museum.
After lunch, your pleasant walk continues with the discovery of some of the historical stores of the old "Zena" (Genoa, in Genoese dialect), from handicrafts to food and wine delicacies. Enjoy a relaxing stop to taste typical sweets in one of the stores in the historic center. The tour will end at the Mercato Orientale in Via XX Settembre, Genoa's main street.
