Spend a day discovering the history of the ancient Maya civilization.
Your first stop of the day will be the Ruins of Coba. Meaning ‘water stirred by the wind’, archaeologists claim that Coba was one of the largest cities of the Mayan Classic Period. You’ll walk and bike around the large network of stone causeways and take in the architecture.
After this, you’ll head to Nohoch Mul, the highest pyramid in the Yucatan Peninsula. Nohoch Mul means ‘big hill’ in Mayan and is a 40-meter pyramid that boasts stunning panoramic views of the area.
Next, you’ll make your way to the nearby cenote Choo-Ha. This natural pool within a cave of limestone rock is notable for its stalagmites hanging from the cave ceiling. It also houses a shallow crystal-clear natural pool that is perfect for a quick refreshing dip. Right next to cenote Choo-Ha is cenote Tankach-Ha. This underground cenote is similar to its neighbor, but with deeper pools that make it a great place to swim and snorkel. After swimming in the cenotes, you’ll stop for lunch (not included) before boarding the comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle and start your way back to Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
