Experience the best that Scandinavian nature has to offer thanks to this tour which combines a snowshoeing activity and a visit to an ice hotel.
Your day will begin your day with a scenic 90-minute drive in a comfortable coach, and your tour will start once you arrive in the beautiful Arctic wilderness of the Tamok valley with a guided snowshoe adventure in the area surrounding the Tromsø Ice Domes. Your guide will teach you the essential skills of surviving the Arctic wilderness, and you will learn how to search for animal tracks in order to try and spot local animals.
The gentle walk on snowshoes will take you further away from civilization and closer to true Scandinavian wilderness. And if you're up for a challenge, there’s always some deep snow on the way to make the trekking more demanding. Once you reach the nature camp, the guide will help you chop wood, start a fire and cook a delicious lunch. Once your belly has been filled, you will be shown how you can survive the ice cold arctic wilderness. How to sleep, what to eat and how to find your way home are just a few of the skills that we are more than happy to share with you.
Upon returning from the snowshoeing tour, you will visit the majestic Tromsø Ice Domes which are built every year as the Polar Night approaches. This piece of art made of snow and ice is a true reflection of the bond that is created between man and nature and will take your breath away. This is much more than an ice hotel or an ice art museum, and you will have the chance to learn all about it during a guided tour of the structure. Your guide will talk about the construction process, the impact of the snow on the survival of Arctic animals as well as some Arctic history.
