Discover Reims in this pleasant morning tour which takes you on a visit to the renowned Taittinger Champagne House and to a family-run boutique Champagne grower.
Upon meeting your guide at 9.00am, you will start your day with a sightseeing tour of Reims city center. You will drive by “Notre dame de Reims”, one of the first monument to be registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you discover some emblematic places of the city such as the “Porte de Mars”, a 2000 year old arch and the last Roman gate of the city, you will be able to absorb the historical atmosphere of this city which is home of the coronation of more than 25 kings of France.
Your first stop will be at the Taittinger house, one of the most renowned Champagne houses in the world. Your visit will start with a small film about the history of the house and the region, before going a complete tour of their cellars which are classified at UNESCO World’s Heritage. You will finish this visit in style with a glass of their flagship Champagne.
You will then head to a viewpoint on the elegant Montagne de Reims vineyards where your guide will point out the particularities of the region. You will learn details of the terroir such as why the vines planted on steep slopes, and why the subsoil is made out from such pure chalk.
Your last stop for the morning will be at a family-run boutique winery. You will go on a tour of the traditional press and vat room which is still used today, as your guide details the traditional Champagne method with a concrete and visual approach. You will then acquire tasting knowledge and expertise through trying several of the winery's Champagne products.
Your morning tour ends at 1.00pm and you will be dropped off in front of Reims central train station.
