What to expect

If you are visiting Normandy to explore some of the D-Day landing sites, the museum is a very good place to start. Be prepared for an unforgettable one-day trip and benefit from the services of a guide throughout the day!

Your day will start with a guided visit of the Mémorial de Caen museum. The museum covers the events leading up to the Second World War to the fall of the Berlin Wall. Discover a whole section covering D-Day and relating the intensity of the Invasion that followed and explain its preparation in both enemy camps.

After having lunch at the lovely ‘La Terrasse’ restaurant at the Mémorial de Caen, a complete 5.5 hours round trip with a bilingual guide (French and English) will give you the chance to learn the story of a day that changed the course of history. The tour from Mémorial de Caen in an air-conditioned minivan includes the visit of the following sites: Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, the American Military Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, the artificial harbor at Arromanches-Les-Bains and watching the film “Normandy’s 100 Days” at the Arromanches 360 Circular Cinema.

Meeting point:

Please note that your guide will be waiting in the main hall of the Caen railway station. Follow the signs ‘Sortie Place de la Gare’ to go to the main hall. Your guide will be near the ‘Point de Rencontre’ sign and will have a board marked Mémorial de Caen.
