There is no prosciutto in the world as tender and delicious as the Karst prsut, dried in the cellars of the old Karst villages with the help of the strong, cold bora winds. Discover charming traditional karst village Štanjel where most of the buildings originate from 16th and 17th centuries and explore the castle and Ferrari’s beautiful garden.

Your first stop will be a charming village Štanjel. Karst Plateau is a region of Slovenia that extends from the Vipava valley to the Gulf of Trieste. The limestone allowed the water to enter the underground and thus created typical karst features - caves, chasms, karst springs, intermittent lakes, and karst fields. Discover the village Štanjel and admire its beautiful castle and Ferrari's amazing garden, the best-known attraction of the village. Karst is also famous for its cuisine, so the next part of the visit is reserve for local cuisine tasting in a small traditional village. The most famous local food of Karst region is delicious "prsut" ham. There is no prosciutto in the world as tender and delicious as the Karst prsut, dried in the cellars of the old Karst villages with the help of the strong, cold bora winds. It is best tasted with its rightful companion, teran wine, a local specialty unique to the region. The wine comes from refosco grapes grown in the fertile red soils of the Karst.

Continue the visit towards Lipica Stud Farm, home of the world-renowned Lipizzaner horses, made famous by the Spanish Riding School of Vienna.
