  • Explore the amazing wildlife and breathtaking cliffs of the Duncansby Stacks
  • Visit John O’Groats and enjoy its incredible nature
What to expect

As you leave Inverness, journeying north and heading across the beautiful Black Isle to the Cromarty Firth, your guide will tell you about the history of the region, including the story of First Duke of Sutherland and the 19th century Highland clearances. You will then travel head onward to Caithness, passing through dramatic and magnificent landscapes, filled with some of Scotland’s most fascinating and rare wildlife, so keep your eyes peeled.

The next stop will be at one of the region’s picturesque harbours, where you will have time at your disposal for lunch. As you enjoy your meal, you will learn about the region’s traditional herring fishing industry before working off your fayre with a gentle walk to Cairn Liath for some Iron Age history. Next up: John O'Groats. Once there, you can stroll along the cliff-top path at Duncansby Head and take in the endless blue hues, only interrupted by iconic sea stacks. Bring your bird-watching gear as Duncansby is home to many winged creatures including guillemots, kittiwakes and, perhaps most excitingly, puffins. As you head home, you will experience more wild and wonderful scenery and pass through the historic estuary town of Wick. A day full of history, nature and culture.
