This new Outlander tour from Inverness explores the locations used in the popular TV and book series from the battlefield of Culloden to the ruins of Urquhart Castle.
You'll depart from Inverness and travel east in the footsteps of Jamie and Claire to Culloden Battlefield, your first stop of the day. The Battlefield was featured in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander books and in the TV series and there you'll enjoy a stop at the modern visitor centre and discover why this historic battle only lasted for one hour. Then, there's a brief stop at the Clava Cairns where you can touch the stones and snap a quick photo before you are whisked back in time to 1743 at Beauly Priory. This ruin was the settling for the burial place of the Lovat Frasers and where Claire meets the see Maisri. After you've admired the beautiful surroundings, it's time to move onto Beaufort Castle and Wardlaw Mausoleum where you can explore the final resting place of the Clan Chief Lord Lovat.
Urquhart Castle, an ancient fortress overlooking Loch Ness and possibly one of the most iconic sites in the Scottish Highlands, is next on the list and will be a thrill for Outlander fans! Then, you'll have the chance to take a boat cruise by Jacobite up to Dochgarroch to finish your Outlander tour (this is unfortunately only available in the summer).
