What to expect

Ruffino is a member of The Grand Wine Tour: an association of the finest wineries across Italy offering exclusive wine tastings, boutique hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants and unique activities dedicated to wine lovers and a luxury clientele. TGWT Mark of Excellence is the very first Italian certification of quality distinguishing high standards in wine tourism hospitality.

The winery vaunts six separate estates that produce Tuscany’s most acclaimed labels: Chianti DOCG, Chianti Classico DOCG, Toscana IGT and Brunello di Montalcino. The same pastoral landscape of rolling hills, cypress trees and vineyards delights visitors coming here to get a taste of Tuscan history. Ruffino offers five tasting options:

WALKING THROUGH THE GREAT WINES (From Monday to Friday at 10.00am and 2.30pm. Minimum of 2 guests. Duration: 1.15 hours)
Walk through the estate and discover where Ruffino’s most representative wines come from. Three different wines will be served along the journey in three different locations: the medal room which overlooks the vineyards, the aging tunnel and the garden. A different wine for each environment!

THE TASTE OF TUSCANY (From Monday to Friday at 10.00am and 2.30pm. Minimum of 2 guests. Duration: 1.5 hours)
History and wine tasting come together in this experience in the heart of Chianti. Learn about the Ruffino’s family history and their winemaking heritage. The tour will begin in the villa and journey through the production area and the impressive aging tunnel. This will be followed by a tasting of the winery’s most representative wines alongside their extra virgin olive oil and a selection of local meats and cheeses.

TRADITION VS INNOVATION (From Monday to Saturday at 10.00am and 2.30pm. Minimum of 2 guests. Duration: 2 hours)
DOCG and Super Tuscans: a comparison of stories, myths and different wine styles. This unique tour takes you through the vineyards at Ruffino’s Poggio Casciano estate, up to the winery and down through the impressive aging tunnel. The special focus is on the winemaking differences between two of Tuscany’s most prized styles: DOCG and Super Tuscans. Once you have learned what sets them apart, it will be time to taste! This experience includes a tasting of two DOCG labels and two Super Tuscan labels alongside their extra virgin olive oil and a selection of local meats and cheeses.

THE VINEYARD IN THE GLASS (From Monday to Saturday at 10.00am and 2.30pm. Minimum of 2 guests. Duration: 2.5 hours)
Discover wine from terroir to glass. This experience is an exciting opportunity to explore Ruffino’s vineyards and get a fuller understanding of the entire winemaking process. You will be led through the Poggio Casciano vineyards and then down to the cellar where they will have the chance to taste a wine that is aging directly from the barrel! After, you will be able to taste four of the winery’s most representative labels alongside their extra virgin olive oil and a selection of local meats and cheeses.

BACK TO THE FUTURE (From Monday to Saturday at 10:00am and 2:30pm. Minimum of 2 guests. Duration: 2.5 hours)
Taste the shades of Ruffino’s most iconic wine: Riserva Ducale Oro. This experience is a vertical tasting that takes you back in time. The journey will begin with a tour of the print museum, production cellar and aging tunnel at the Poggio Casciano estate. It will then be followed by a tasting of four different Riserva Ducale Oro, Ruffino’s flagship Chianti Classico label. This is a unique opportunity to delve deep into the past, present and future of Chianti Classico and Ruffino’s pivotal role in producing this wine.
