There are 14 hectares of gardens to explore at Parc Samà in Cambrils near Salou where exotic trees and palms grow around a lake. Peacocks roam around the gardens too, adding to its romantic air. It makes a great trip out for families and nature enthusiasts.
First built in 1881, Parc Samà takes you on a journey to colonial Cuba. Josep Fontserè, with the help of Antonio Gaudí, was entrusted by the Marquis of Maraianao, the Senator for Cuba, to design the park. And the result is a romantic and modernist garden, which combines elements from across the world where you can lose a couple of hours wandering around the flourishing collections of trees and plants.
You'll find exotic palms, eucalyptus, banana trees and bougainvillea in and around the lake, bridge and caves. There are birds from Central America and a natural quality to the layout, allowing the romantic and asymmetric qualities to bloom. You'll be provided with a map with a recommended route that takes approximately two hours.
